Over 60s Fitness for Fun & Friendship
“It gets me out of the house rain or shine. It helps with my mental struggles. Socialising is important as I live on my own. Thanks Abbey Community Centre.”
— Abbey member, October 2025 survey
Our Over 60s Fitness for Fun & Friendship programme supports older people in Kilburn and nearby neighbourhoods to stay active, independent and connected. It forms part of our wider Community Activities Programme at Abbey Community Centre.
We run 12–14 welcoming sessions each week, supporting more than 300 local residents every year to move more, feel stronger and enjoy time together.
Whether someone is returning to exercise after illness, managing a long-term health condition, or simply wanting to maintain strength and mobility as they age, our sessions provide a safe and encouraging space to do so. Participants are encouraged to take part at their own pace, with options to sit or stand where appropriate.
We welcome people using mobility aids and those managing long-term conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, respiratory conditions, joint pain or reduced balance. Our instructors prioritise safety, encouragement and individual comfort.
