Internships
At Abbey we offer short-term work placements / internships in partnership with a range of educational institutions. Currently, these include Global Banking School (UK), EUSA Academic Internship Experts (USA), AES Experiential Learning and Living, the College of Naturopathic Medicine and CEA CAPA Study Abroad. Placements can be part-time or full time, with set hours during the week, and can be tailored depending on the student's interests, skills and aspirations. Placement students can gain experience in:
- Working with children under 5 and their families in our creche or stay-and-play drop-in
- Working with older people - whether in befriending, Tech Buddies IT-support, or through our Community Activities Programme
- Supporting all aspects of the day-to-day in a small charitable organisation - administration, marketing and publicity, Reception work
- Supporting with events such as our Soup-er Tuesdays, Community Lunches, Gardening days
- Developing communication and people skills - interacting with community members from a wide range of backgrounds
- Undertaking special projects e.g. researching local services, corporate fundraising research, setting up and running an event
